Africa hosts. Dakar celebrates.
A shortlisted proposal for the IOC Medal Design Competition, the global open call for the first Olympic Games hosted on the African continent. The medal carries a cultural reading: every symbol pressed into the metal speaks first of Senegal, then of sport.

Five symbols. One reading.
The Sabar for rhythm. The sun for radiance. The triangle for the rise of African youth. The circle for unity. The half-circle — the calabash — for Téranga, the Senegalese ethic of welcoming and sharing. Five signs, arranged so that the medal can be read in any orientation, by any athlete.

Modeled and lit in Blender, finished in Photoshop and Camera Raw. Co-authored with Ibrahim Fikara, from Benin.
